Friday Fish Fry, Fire and Friends!

Sunday, May 25, 2008

This Friday, Matt and I attempted our first ever fish fry. It was quite exciting and overall a great success! There were only a couple mishaps - the backboard of the basketball hoop was smashed, the oil overflowed onto the driveway, and we burned a batch of crappie. Will we attempt this again anytime soon? - Probably not, but it was nice to do something different for once.

Hmm... I just wasn't sure how this night was going to go. Was the fish going to be good? Will the fire be big enough? Will people show up? Will this frickin' mountain zit on my chin ever cease to exist? No one could be sure.

Good old Stanley couldn't wait for "his boys" to arrive so they could throw the tennis ball endlessly for him.

First to arrive were Pete and Brian. It was beautiful weather! Pete was often times caught airing out his armpits, and Brian on the contrary was acting tough by dressing for winter weather.

Let's get this party started! The Zank family hoop really saw action that day! This was just the beginning!
Matt of course stepped up first and showed off his form for the boys.
Pete was a little too impressed however and decided to attack Matt out of excitement.

It was Pete's turn to try to impress us - especially Matt. Look at that amazing grace in action!

Again, who can compete with this amazing shooting style!?

Stewie arrived and jumped into the action!
After all the bangin' action this hoop has seen, she was finally crushed under the pressure! Take it easy next time, boys!
Bug 'n Baby! Proud papa holding little Eleanor with her I ♥ Daddy bib! AW!! Unfortunately I didn't get any pics of baby mama! Bobbie was a mover and a shaker keeping her baby content!

Matt serves up his famous Easy Cheese/Scoops/Pretzel appetizer. The assembly of this combo takes great precision and care.

And boy are they ever delicious!!!!
Daniel was mostly seen inside the house because of some stupid NBA game. We missed him.

With our bellies satisfied it was time to relax around a fire. Notice the huge oil stain on our driveway! Thatta boy, Matt!

My drink of choice that night: Bacardi and Diet Cherry Coke. A little sweet, but oh so smooth on the way down.

Again, Peter airing out his armpits - staring at my husband with a look of longing. Just kidding! He was actually telling us the reasons why he hates himself in a relationship. Very thought provoking!
Dan finally found his way outside to enjoy the fire and conversation with the rest of us.
As a wrap up to our discussion of politics, I decided to throw Matt's Bush/Cheney 2004 sign in the fire. Dan insisted I get a picture of it. Beautiful.

I tried to nab a picture of me with my husband of almost five years and was hoping for a better showing of emotion. He almost seemed as if he was thinking of someone else.....but who?
Then it became clear to me.
Honestly boys, get a room! :)
Daniel decided to crash on our couch after a long, sucessful and eventful night of fun, friends and food! He really had a great time!
