Operation: Duck Egg Rescue
Wednesday, May 28, 2008
Here's the story: Scott (previously shown in "Bitchler Party" and "Special Ed. Extravaganza" posts) and Katie have a dog named Cooper. Cooper took it upon himself to protect his owner from a ferocious mother duck during Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately the mama duck had just recently laid 11 eggs and had now left 11 orphans for Scott and Katie to take care of. After the shock was over and the clean up of the crime scene had finished, there were only 8 salvageable duck eggs left. What was Scott to do? He didn't have an incubator! He didn't know anything about ducks! He wasn't hungry for eggs! Who would take them? There was only one person that I knew of who could save the day - Kelley. By the grace of God this girl rides around with a handy incubator in the trunk of her car! :) Thank goodness we had her eggs-pertise and incubator to save the 8 orphan eggs left behind from the slaughter of their mother.
The operation commenced with the retrieval of the expert. She's a bit camera shy - how can you blame her? She's a hero!
She happily climbed into the "Linc" to begin her journey of rescue and rehabilitation for these little eggs.
After warming up the "little ones" for the night in Kelley's handy dandy incubator, Scott was unsure yet confident in giving up his foster kids to a better home.
Cooper: the culprit. Look! He's starting to attack me in this pic!
Cooper feels a sense of nurturing and sadness when he realizes his new "brothers and sisters" were leaving him for a better place. He says good-bye one last time.
The proud foster parents, Scott and Katie, before the big good bye.
One can only feel comfort, confidence and excitement while looking at this pic. These eggs are off to a bigger and better place on a farm in Rosendale where they will thrive and succeed in their short duck lives. Thanks, Kelley!!!
