Flood Pics - The Day After
Friday, June 13, 2008
Matt and I set out to document the aftermath of the Great Flood of '08 in downtown Fond du Lac. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
The Somewhere Bar. It's hard to see here, but it looks like it might fall into the river at any minute.
The Reporter Building
St. Paul's Cathedral right next to Fond du Lac River .
The street where Matt's friend James lives...or lived.
A closer look - James' house had water up to their first floor.
The rising river.
View from Johnson St. Bridge - At this point the river was only about a foot from spilling over onto the houses on the right side of the concrete wall.

Matt and I walked over the bridge since it was closed to traffic. When we reached the top, we saw why no traffic was being let through.
There was 3-4 feet of water for about 2 blocks.

It's kind of hard to see, but this is the parking lot of the Aquatic Center - completely flooded under about 4 feet of water.
